There is so much buzz around microdosing, and for good reason. People seek it out for several different benefits. Performance enhancement, creativity, focus, or improved mood. I think these things are all wonderful, and I’m so grateful people are establishing and renewing their relationship with this miraculous gift of nature. But for me, choosing to take sub-hallucinogenic amounts of psilocybin on the regular is about relationship. To myself, to others, to nature, and to Spirit.
My mushroom allies are the best accountability partners when it comes to living in integrity.
They sharpen my awareness into a double edged sword. This can look like waves of joy and peace when I’m investing my time and energy into things that feel aligned, such as getting lost in a creative project, taking a moment to just be in nature, enjoying a conversation with a friend or loved one, or even becoming deeply present during chores…noticing the way the water feels on my hands while I wash the dishes, feeling gratitude for all my clothes and linens while I fold laundry, finding pleasure in moving my body while mopping the floor.
On the flip side, the Sacred Medicine also alerts me when I’m outside of my integrity. When I say yes to something I really didn’t want to commit to, when I put a fake smile on my face in the presence of someone who hurts me, when I’m rushing my kids through routines and not taking any time to simply enjoy them.
You know, the things you tend to ruminate on when the world is finally quiet and you’re trying to fall asleep.
It’s Still Up to Us to Do the Work
Microdosing gives me the gift of powerful attunement to my own energy and the energy of those around me, but it doesn’t do the work of alignment for me. It’s still up to me to use that gift to make choices that bring me back into my integrity and to keep taking turtle steps toward healing and growth.
Make no mistake, we’re still in the crucible of Earth school. But we’re not alone. We’ve never been alone, and there are so many gifts and signs that help point the way. Some of them just happen to grow right up out of the ground.
